¶ Neate D53. ‘Miss du Faur was an Australian who made many notable climbs during the years 1909-13, in particular the first traverse of the summit ridge of Mount Cook. It is doubtful whether she ever climbed again. She spent most of the rest of her life in England, but died in Australia.

¶ Neate F36 ‘Fitzgerald made a number of good climbs after losing the first ascent of Mount Cook to local climbers. Both he and his book were unpopular with New Zealand mountaineers. His light-hearted style of writing also met with critical disapproval.’
